Echo/Vascular & Arterial Studies
Vascular studies are procedures that are non-invasive and are used to assess the blood flow in arteries and veins. A transducer (similar to a microphone that sends out ultrasonic sound waves) is placed on the skin at certain locations and angles and effectively “listens” as ultrasonic sound waves as they move through the body to the blood vessels, where they echo off of blood cells. The transducer then picks up the reflected waves and sends them to an amplifier which makes them audible.
