Current Visitor Guidelines
Our visitor protocols have been revised effective February 16, 2026.
Visiting Policies
Visitation is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. After 9 p.m., the hospital encourages a quiet environment to promote healing and ensure patient and staff safety, and limits overnight stays to 1 support person.
There are no age restriction for visitors, children must be supervised by an adult at all times and not be supervised by the patient.
Visitation may be restricted at the request of the patient or the health care team, or if it interferes with the patient’s progress.
- Emergency department (ED): Open 24/7
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Open 24/7 to visitors chosen by the patient. Visitation is open to all individuals aged 12 and over.
- Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU): Open 24/7. The NICU does not allow visitors under 18 years of age Monday through Saturday. Sunday’s are designated as NICU Family Day. The baby’s siblings are allowed to visit for up to 30 min. Siblings must be at least 5 years old and up to date on all their vaccinations. If the sibling has a cough/runny nose/fever, we do ask that you not bring them in for the safety of all our NICU babies.
- Surgery (prep and hold): Open to all visitors with no age restriction.
- Skilled nursing unit (SNU): Open 24/7. No age restriction. Overnight stay is allowed.
- No visitation is allowed in all precaution/isolation requirements.
- Special visitation consideration will be made for end of life circumstances.
Visitors can enter the hospital through main entrance, towers A & B, and ER.
Access points of entry are open as follows:
Main Entrance
Monday – Sunday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Tower A
Monday - Friday: 5 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday: 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
Tower B
Monday - Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday: 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Emergency Department
Monday – Sunday: 24/7

After General Visitation Hours
At 9 p.m. all Partners in Care will be reminded that only one person may stay with the patient overnight. Anyone visiting between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. must enter through the emergency room entrance.
- The security staff will monitor and issue passes after 9 p.m.
- Anyone requesting access to a patient care floor will be asked to provide the patient’s name and room number.
- The security staff will verify with the patient care floor whether visitation is appropriate.
- The security staff will issue the pass and direct them to the appropriate location.
Disruptive Behavior
Workplace violence is a recognized hazard in healthcare. Workplace violence affects our team members, patients, visitors and the community.
In accordance with Texas Penal Code Section 22.0 (b) (9), assaulting someone who is hospital personnel on hospital property is a felony, specifically elevating a simple assault to a felony charge.
Laredo Medical Center has zero tolerance for inappropriate language or behavior that is aggressive, disruptive or threatening. This helps ensure a safe and positive healing environment for everyone at our care sites.
We reserve the right to discharge individuals from care, modify visitation privileges and pursue legal recourse if any healthcare worker is threatened or harmed.
