LAREDO, TX (October 11, 2023)—Laredo Medical Center is utilizing virtual technology to provide maternal-fetal medicine specialists to its patients.
Through this technology, Laredo Medical Center’s obstetricians and maternity providers can connect with a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist via secure, high-resolution technology in minutes. On-site clinicians have access to the highest level of consultation to diagnose and treat women with high-risk pregnancies and those experiencing complex deliveries.
“This new technology is a valuable resource to provide specialized and individualized maternal and newborn care, thanks to Laredo Medical Center’s commitment to invest in the latest advancements in telemedicine,” says Dr. Dagoberto Gonzalez, chairperson of the OB/GYN, Laredo Medical Center medical leadership team.
More than 250 mothers choose to deliver their babies at Laredo Medical Center each month. The hospital’s Family Birthing Center offers a family-centered approach that puts the healthy growth and development of the entire family first, the skills of the hospital’s neonatologists and specially trained nurses, and its comfortably updated facility. Additionally, the hospital’s childbirth team implemented last year an artificial intelligence-based maternal-fetal early warning system called PeriWatch Vigilance to enhance patient safety during labor and delivery.
Laredo Medical Center is designated by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Level II specialty care maternal facility, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and, most recently, earned the designations of a Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite and a Texas Ten Step facility. The hospital’s maternal facility is also associated with the Texas AIM state program for maternal safety.
