Free October 24 event at Buena Vista ER will honor first responders with family activities, safety education, Halloween fun and mascot dance-off
Laredo Medical Center will bring safety education and family fun together at the first-ever Laredo’s Frontline Family Fest, a free community safety fair and celebration set for Saturday, October 24 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Laredo Medical Center Buena Vista ER, 4019 Cuatro Vientos Road.
Held in honor of National First Responders Day, the event is open to frontline heroes, their families and the public. Guests of all ages can connect with the hospital’s care team, local first responders and community organizations while taking part in interactive displays, child fingerprint ID, hands-only CPR demonstrations, games, face painting, refreshments and door prize opportunities.
The celebration will also feature a mascot dance-off, Halloween costumes and treats for children and adults—adding a spirited twist to an afternoon centered on preparedness, connection and appreciation.
“Our first responders stand ready every day to care for and protect our community, and this event gives Laredo families an opportunity to celebrate them while learning practical safety skills in a fun, welcoming setting,” said Jorge Leal, FACHE, chief executive officer of Laredo Medical Center. “We are proud to bring our community partners together at Buena Vista ER for an afternoon that can help families feel more informed, connected and prepared.”
Participating organizations and programs are expected to include several Laredo Medical Center departments and programs, including trauma/ER, stroke, chest pain, S.A.N.E., hyperbaric and wound care, bariatric weight loss, women’s imaging and sleep center. Community groups joining the event include AHEC 988 Crisis Hotline, Laredo Police Department, Laredo Stroke Support Group, Roots Recovery Center, Mercy Ministries, Casa Misericordia, Alzheimer’s Support Group of Laredo, Laredo EMS and Fire Department, Air Evac Lifeteam 93 and Webb County Sheriff’s Department.
Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to wear family-friendly Halloween costumes and follow Laredo Medical Center on social media for event updates and featured participants. For more information, call the LMC Marketing Office at (956) 796-3223.
