Laredo Medical Center Offers Mammogram Special to Encourage Breast Cancer Screening
10/5/2021
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Here in Texas, female breast cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer for women.
To encourage more women to take action for their breast health, Laredo Medical Center is offering a special to women for October, which is annually recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Mammograms save lives,” said Dr. Mohsen Ghadimi-Mahani, medical oncologist. “Today, thanks to early detection and treatment advances, more women are surviving breast cancer and living longer, healthier lives.”
For women of average risk, the American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging recommend annual mammograms starting at age 40, with no upper age limit as long as the woman is in good health. Different guidelines apply to women at higher risk. A screening mammogram can help detect breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages.
To participate in Laredo Medical Center’s special mammogram offer for only $99, women must be uninsured, age 40 or older and know the date of their last mammogram.
For more information and/or to pre-register, call (956) 796-3729.
For American College of Radiology recommendations, visit www.acr.org. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. An order from a physician or qualified healthcare provider is required. All mammogram reports will be sent to the physician/provider, and the patient is responsible for follow-up.
