Laredo Medical Center Names Employee and Directors of 2025
3/11/2026
Laredo Medical Center has named Lab Supervisor Chrystelle Davila as the 2025 ‘Employee of the Year.’ This award is the highest honor bestowed on a hospital employee each year. Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers based on their commitment and contributions to their job responsibilities.
“Chrystelle has been an extraordinary team member to our organization. Her leadership and attention to detail were instrumental in successfully implementing point-of-care testing at our freestanding emergency department—a complex initiative critical to our hospital and laboratory operations,” says Jorge Leal, FACHE, chief executive officer. “Our administrative team had a tough job, but after careful consideration, Chrystelle stood out as the employee who went above and beyond and is most deserving of the Employee of the Year award.”
Antonio Cardenas, senior director of practice management, has been named the ‘Non-Clinical Director of the Year.’ He is credited for playing a key role in service line development and clinic growth throughout 2025, providing steady leadership across multiple initiatives.
“Tony approached complex projects with focus and accountability, viewing each as an opportunity to strengthen care delivery within our clinics and community. Among his most significant accomplishments was the recruitment and launch of a new neurosurgery, pine and orthopedics clinic, the onboarding of three new providers and the development of a three-year primary care growth strategy,” said Leal.
Omaro Garcia, cardiopulmonary and sleep center director, has been named ‘Clinical Director of the Year.’ Garcia was promoted to director of cardiopulmonary and respiratory services in March 2024 after successfully leading LMC’s American Academy of Sleep Medicine-accredited Sleep Center.
“Since day one, Omaro’s vision, leadership and work ethic have driven meaningful change. His determination and positive leadership have had a measurable impact across the hospital, accelerating growth, strengthening team engagement and expanding clinical capabilities in a short period of time,” said Leal.
CEO Leal adds, “With more than 1,200 employees, I am proud of what our team has accomplished together—not just for our hospital, but most importantly for the patients and families who rely on us for trusted quality care.”
