Laredo Medical Center Modifies Visitor Policy, Effective Sept. 21
9/18/2020
Laredo Medical Center recognizes the important role family plays in caring for patients. Effective September 21, 2020, we have revised our visitor policy to allow one visitor per patient per day in non-COVID inpatient settings with safety as our utmost priority.
“As COVID-19 cases have started to decrease in our community and our hospital, we are pleased to welcome, in a limited manner, loved ones to support our patients,” said Enrique Gallegos, CEO of Laredo Medical Center. “We make these modifications with the safety of patients, visitors and our healthcare team members’ top of mind. We look forward to collaborating with visitors in the healing process during their loved ones' hospital stay - and encourage community members to remain vigilant in observing infection prevention practices so cases continue to decline.”
Our updated visitor protocols are as follows:
- hospital visiting hours are now from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.;
- visitation is open to only one (1) immediate family member, partner or significant other, per patient per day, and no children under age 18 will be permitted to visit patients;
- visitors can continue to enter the hospital through Towers A & B, Main Entrance and ER;
- we continue to follow federal government recommendations for Skilled Nursing Units to have restricted visitation;
- we continue to restrict individuals with fever, cough or flu-like symptoms, from entering the hospital through screening which includes answering a list of CDC criteria questions and a temperature check.
While visitors are not allowed in the COVID or regular ICU units, we recognize staying in touch with patients is important, and we can gladly coordinate virtual visits through the use of Zoom. Additionally, family members are encouraged to use FaceTime, Whatsapp or other social chat applications.
