Laredo Medical Center Marks Growth in Specialized Care

Community gathers to celebrate new services in orthopedics, neurosurgery and rehabilitation
Laredo Medical Center and Laredo Physicians Associates marked an important step in expanding access to specialized care in Laredo and Webb County with the opening of three new clinics: orthopedics and sports medicine, neurosurgery and spine, and outpatient rehabilitation.
The milestone was celebrated on Wednesday, September 10, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, tours of the new spaces and opportunities for the community to meet the new physicians.
“This expansion is about responding to the needs of our patients,” said Laredo Medical Center CEO Jorge Leal, FACHE. "Residents will no longer need to travel far for these specialties. These services are now available right here at Laredo Medical Center.”
Specialty Services Introduced
- Laredo Physician Associates - Orthopedics & Sports Medicine welcomed Dr. David F. Bruni, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes on sports medicine and shoulder surgery. After leaving his hometown for 18 years to pursue his medical journey, the Laredo-born physician shared his enthusiasm about returning to his roots to provide care for patients in the community and surrounding region.
- Laredo Physician Associates - Neurosurgery & Spine introduced Dr. Gordon Chu, a neurosurgeon with nearly two decades of experience in minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spinal procedures, including treatment of tumors and degenerative disease.
- Laredo Medical Center Outpatient Rehabilitation was built to complement these specialists’ services with more space and brand new equipment. Rehabilitation therapists deliver personal attention and care to help patients regain independence following injury, illness or surgery.
