Laredo Medical Center Earns an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Medical Center earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
“Our ‘A’ Grade from The Leapfrog Group is a meaningful validation of the rigorous standards we hold ourselves to every day. It reflects a deep, organization-wide commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and transparency,” said Jorge Leal, FACHE, chief executive officer of Laredo Medical Center. “For our community, this grade signals that they can trust us to deliver care in an environment where safety is foundational to everything we do. I extend my sincere gratitude to our administration, board of directors, medical staff, caregivers, staff and volunteers whose diligence, accountability and compassion made this achievement possible.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
