Free Healthy Connections Talk to Focus on Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease on August 27
8/25/2026
Alzheimer’s disease can affect memory, thinking and behavior, gradually interfering with a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. Recognizing the warning signs and seeking medical guidance early can help individuals and families better understand the condition and plan for the future.
As part of Laredo Medical Center’s Healthy Connections series, Luis Manuel Ramon, FNP-BC, a family nurse practitioner at Primary Care Associates of Laredo, will present “Alzheimer’s Disease: What You Need to Know,” an informative talk focused on what individuals and families should know about the condition, including its warning signs, risk factors and the importance of early detection.
The presentation will explore the differences between normal age-related changes and symptoms that may indicate Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. Attendees will also learn when to speak with a healthcare provider and what to expect during an initial medical evaluation.
“Occasional forgetfulness can be a normal part of aging, but persistent changes that begin to affect daily life should not be ignored,” said Ramon. “Recognizing the warning signs and discussing them with a healthcare provider can be an important first step toward identifying the cause and accessing appropriate care and support.”
The program will also address ways to support brain health, common misconceptions about Alzheimer’s disease and the important role family members and caregivers play throughout the journey.
“An Alzheimer’s diagnosis affects the entire family, and having reliable information can help loved ones feel better prepared,” Ramon added. “While there is currently no cure, early detection can provide more time to consider treatment options, connect with helpful resources and make important decisions together.”
The presentation is for adults of all ages, including individuals concerned about their memory, family members and caregivers. The event will include time for questions and discussion.
The program will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 12 p.m. at the Laredo Medical Center Community Center, Tower B, first floor.
Admission is free, but space is limited. Lunch will be provided. Reserve your space online by visiting https://rebrand.ly/6k4ppa0 or by calling the LMC Marketing Office at (956) 796-3223.
