Laredo Medical Center Invites Community to Colorectal Cancer Awareness Talk on March 25
3/11/2026
Laredo Medical Center’s Healthy Connections series will feature an educational talk on colorectal cancer awareness, led by board-certified gastroenterologist Dr. Alfredo Camero Jr., of Gastroenterology Consultants of Laredo. The program will also feature patient testimonials, offering firsthand perspectives on diagnosis, treatment and the impact of early screening.
Dr. Camero will discuss the rising incidence of colon cancer in adults under 50, key risk factors, and the critical role of screening colonoscopy in prevention and early detection.
Colon cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. Recent data indicate shifting incidence patterns, including an increase in cases among younger adults.
During the presentation, Dr. Camero will review current epidemiological trends and explain the implications for patients and families. The discussion will address established and emerging risk factors for colorectal cancer, including age, family history, hereditary cancer syndromes and dietary patterns, among others.
A central focus of the event will be screening colonoscopy, the gold standard for colorectal cancer detection and prevention. In addition to clinical insights, patient testimonials will highlight personal experiences with screening, diagnosis and survivorship.
The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session. It will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at the Laredo Medical Center Community Center, Tower B, first floor.
Admission is free, but space is limited. Lunch will be provided. Reserve your space at https://rebrand.ly/zmz29rh, or call the LMC Marketing Office at (956) 796-3220.
