Laredo Medical Center CEO Jorge Leal Appointed Chair of the HOSPAC Board
1/9/2026
Jorge Leal, FACHE, CEO of Laredo Medical Center, has been named board chairman of HOSPAC, the political action committee of the Texas Hospital Association, for 2026-2027, succeeding Ajith Pai.
Leal brings more than 17 years of experience in health care leadership and a strong commitment to ensuring hospitals have a voice with policymakers.
John Hawkins, president/CEO of the Texas Hospital Association, believes that Leal is the right fit at the right time.
“Jorge is a leader with vison and passion,” says Hawkins. “THA is grateful to have him on the THA board of trustees and we are excited that he will lead HOSPAC over the next two years.”
Leal says he is honored to serve as HOSPAC board chair. He was elected to THA’s board in 2024 and has served on the Council on Policy Development and HOSPAC. Nationally, Leal represents Texas as an at-large delegate to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board 7.
“With the 2026 election cycle approaching, the work is happening now. Every major health care decision affecting our hospitals begins with relationships built before votes are cast. I am excited to help bring hospitals together to support candidates who understand our challenges and priorities,” says Leal.
As HOSPAC looks ahead, it will continue building relationships, engaging members, and supporting leaders who prioritize access to high-quality care. THA members are encouraged to get involved and contribute to HOSPAC to help sustain hospitals’ influence in the coming election cycle.
