Laredo Medical Center Celebrates Construction Milestone with Topping Out Ceremony for New ER in Southeast Laredo

A major step forward in the construction of the Laredo Medical Center Buena Vista ER was celebrated with a topping out party, marking the placement of the final steel beam.
Hospital leadership, physicians, clinicians and staff were joined by members from the Laredo Fire Department and other key stakeholders to celebrate this exciting milestone. Laredo Medical Center is expanding its commitment to the community with a new emergency department in southeast Laredo to better serve the area’s growing population and business corridor.
Guests had the unique opportunity to leave their mark on the steel beam by signing it before it was lifted into place. Refreshments were served as attendees enjoyed connecting and looking ahead to what the new facility will mean for the community.
“This topping out isn’t just about construction progress. It’s about our promise to bring convenient, high-quality emergency care to families in Laredo, Webb County and surrounding communities,” said Jorge Leal, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer of Laredo Medical Center. “We are building more than a facility. We are building peace of mind for our neighbors.”
Once complete, the Buena Vista ER will operate 24/7, offering full-service emergency care backed by the comprehensive resources of Laredo Medical Center. With nearly 57,000 patient encounters annually across its emergency rooms, LMC plays a vital role in delivering lifesaving, medically necessary care to all patients.
The 11,206 square foot facility will feature:
- Eight private exam rooms, including specialized trauma and OB/isolation rooms;
- Three private triage bays;
- On-site radiology and lab services; and
- Care provided by board-certified emergency physicians and skilled LMC clinical staff.
The facility will be located at 4019 Cuatro Vientos Road, near the Buena Vista Sports Complex.
Construction is expected to be completed by late summer 2026.
Construction is being managed by Doster Construction.
