Catholic Diocese of Laredo to Celebrate 23rd Annual White Mass for Healthcare Professionals November 6
10/17/2025
Bishop James A. Tamayo and the Catholic Diocese of Laredo will celebrate its 23rd annual White Mass in recognition of healthcare professionals and their healing ministries. The Mass will be held at San Agustin Cathedral on Thursday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m., with a city and county proclamation presentation towards the conclusion of the service.
All medical and health care professionals and health programs students from any denomination, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, EMTs, missionaries, healthcare educators, and even hospital volunteers, are invited to attend.
A White Mass is the customary description for a liturgy for health care workers. Traditionally, health care workers wore white attire. In the Church, white symbolizes hope and comfort to the ill and hospitalized.
The White Mass also celebrates the feast of St. Luke, the patron saint of physicians who wrote the Gospel of Luke, and emphasized ministering to the poor, opening God’s kingdom to all, respecting life, and conveying God’s mercy to everyone. Scripture describes him as both a beloved and loyal physician.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend the Mass.
