Laredo Medical Center’s New Outpatient Infusion Center Provides More Comfort and Convenience Closer to Home

Laredo Medical Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its new and expanded Infusion Center on Monday, September 27.
Located at the hospital’s main campus on the second floor of Tower A, the LMC Infusion Center is dedicated to providing patient care excellence in a comfortable and convenient outpatient setting for those who require chemotherapy and hydration therapy, as well as other infusion services, provided by certified registered nurses who specialize in chemotherapy, intravenous therapy and hydration.
“We are proud to unveil our brand new and expanded Infusion Center, which was relocated to a larger space on our main campus to continue providing comprehensive cancer services and other outpatient infusion services closer to home,” said Jorge Leal, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer at Laredo Medical Center. “Our vision for the Infusion Center is to be able to serve more patients and provide this community with chemotherapy and infusion services that are second to none in our region. We can treat patients in a comfortable and private atmosphere, and do it in a way that promotes healing, recovery, privacy and an overall improved patient experience.”
When patients arrive at the LMC Infusion Center, they’ll notice it has been designed with many amenities. Patients will receive their infusion in one of 14 comfortable recliner chairs available. They can choose to enjoy television by watching any of the flat screen TVs, which are accompanied by private headphones, or enjoy their own personal electronic device by using LMC’s free Wi-Fi access.
A collection of Angel of Hope paintings – created by local artists as a tribute to local men and women who are battling cancer, are survivors of cancer or have lost their lives to cancer – adorn the facility. This will help provide a warm and comfortable environment for reading or to sit back and relax while receiving treatment.
Four private patient rooms are also available for those needing extra privacy and added comfort, with the goal of each nurse to ensure each patient feels as comfortable as possible. Nurses will be there to tend to the needs of all patients during their visits.
“The entire oncology staff is so proud of our beautiful new Infusion Center and what it means for our patients,” says Mohsen G. Mahani, M.D., medical oncologist and medical director of the LMC Infusion Center. “Expanding this service is exactly what the cancer program at LMC needed in order to provide more comprehensive, compassionate and quality cancer services in Laredo, sparing anyone the added expense and inconvenience of traveling out of town.”
Supplemental services to support clinical care to create an optimal care experience include:
- assessing and evaluating the patient’s progress
- providing educational and instructional materials
- coordinating care with the patient’s primary physician to promote the best treatment outcomes
- having a medical director on-site during business hours
- Providing psychosocial support services.
