Laredo Medical Center Names Geoffrey C. Empey Chief Operating Officer

Geoffrey C. Empey, FACHE, has been appointed chief operating officer of Laredo Medical Center. He began his new role September 28.
Empey brings extensive experience in hospital operations, capital projects and support services across regional referral, trauma, academic, and free standing emergency care settings. Most recently, he served as vice president of operations at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. In that role, he established strong, collaborative relationships with employees and physicians to support care delivery, helped open a new freestanding emergency room, and oversaw multiple facility enhancement projects including work to refresh the intensive care and labor and delivery units.
Earlier in his career, Empey held leadership positions at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, Centennial Hills Hospital and Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Empey holds a Master of Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Throughout his career, Empey says he has focused on building strong teams, improving hospital operations and guiding investments in facilities and services to better serve patients and communities.
Empey and his wife, Annie, are the proud parents of three children and look forward to becoming part of the Laredo community.
