Laredo Medical Center Honors Irma “Betty” Salinas, RN, with Nursing Excellence Award

Laredo Medical Center is proud to recognize Irma “Betty” Salinas, R.N., as the recipient of its 2025 Nursing Excellence Award. The annual honor recognizes nurses who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to compassionate, quality patient care.
Established in 2020 during the “Year of the Nurse,” the award honors the vital role nurses played throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to fulfill each day. Salinas was selected from 24 nominations for consistently exemplifying excellence in nursing through her compassion, professionalism and unwavering commitment to patient and their well-being.
Salinas serves as a case manager for the hospital’s 2D and 2E units, where she helps coordinate care and supports patients and families throughout the healthcare journey. Colleagues describe her as kind, dedicated and thoughtful, with a strong sense of integrity and professionalism in every aspect of her work. She joined Laredo Medical Center’s case management department in 2004 and brings more than 25 years of patient care experience to her role.
“Betty represents the very best of nursing—compassionate, dependable and deeply committed to helping patients and families navigate every stage of their care,” said Jorge Leal, FACHE, chief executive officer of Laredo Medical Center. “Her dedication has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless patients and colleagues, and we are proud to honor her with this well-deserved award.”
In recognition of her achievement, Salinas received a crystal Nursing Excellence Award, a floral bouquet, and a cash prize in appreciation of her service, compassion and teamwork.
