Cardiology investment to upgrade Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology Suites for Laredo-Webb County region
Laredo, Texas—Laredo Medical Center is enhancing its heart and vascular program, upgrading two existing interventional cardiology suites with advanced technology to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various patient conditions, including procedures for diagnostic catheterizations, stenting, and balloon angioplasty. Additionally, the suites will have the capability for the hospital to offer electrophysiology services to treat arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. The $6.9 million investment is expected to take six months.
“Laredo Medical Center’s enhanced interventional cardiology suites will allow us to provide a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures in a timely manner. It will enable us to capture and view more enhanced images of a patient’s coronary structure, thereby facilitating faster diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease closer to home,” says Dr. Ricardo J.G. Cigarroa, interventional cardiologist.
Laredo Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Jorge Leal says that Laredo and surrounding communities are fortunate to have a longstanding, committed group of cardiac professionals who provide comprehensive, quality cardiac care.
“We're very excited about this enhancement of services as it will allow us to continue to provide unparalleled care to our community without traveling outside of the area,” says Leal.
