Laredo Medical Center Appoints Shelton Williams Chief Operating Officer

Shelton T. Williams has been appointed chief operating officer of Laredo Medical Center. He joins LMC on September 12 after serving as the assistant chief executive officer/facility compliance officer for Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, TX.
Williams is a healthcare executive with a successful five-year track record leading hospital departments, service line initiatives, service line expansion, healthcare quality initiatives and improvements in the delivery of care to the community.
At Woodland, Williams oversaw and managed ancillary and support services, including laboratory, radiology, plant operations and engineering, environmental services, and food and nutrition, and directed expansion projects for ER and women’s services. Additionally, he was the administrative leader for Woodland Heights Physician Group, comprised of primary care, cardiovascular surgery, and obstetrics/gynecology.
Prior to Woodland, Williams was the assistant administrator/facility compliance officer for Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury, Texas.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Williams received his Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He went on to obtain a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth.
