Free Community Talk to Highlight Annual Exams and Preventive Care for Men on June 10 at Laredo Medical Center
6/4/2026
Men are often less likely than women to seek routine medical care, making preventive health screenings and annual exams critical tools for identifying potential health concerns before they become serious.
As part of Laredo Medical Center’s Healthy Connections series, Luis Manuel Ramon, FNP-BC, a family nurse practitioner at Primary Care Associates of Laredo, will present “Men’s Health: The Importance of Annual Exams and Prevention,” an informative talk focused on helping men take charge of their health through regular checkups, screenings, and healthy lifestyle choices.
The presentation will explore how annual wellness visits can help detect conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers in their earliest and most treatable stages. Attendees will also learn about preventive measures that can reduce health risks and support long-term well-being.
“Many serious health conditions develop gradually and may not cause noticeable symptoms in the early stages,” said Ramon. “Annual exams give healthcare providers an opportunity to identify potential concerns early, when interventions are often most effective. Prevention and early detection can make a significant difference in overall health outcomes.”
The program will highlight recommended screenings based on age, personal and family health history, and other risk factors. Participants will also receive practical guidance on maintaining healthy habits related to nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and tobacco cessation.
“Taking care of your health doesn’t have to be complicated,” Ramon added. “Small, consistent steps–combined with regular preventive care–can help men stay healthier, remain active, and enjoy a better quality of life for years to come.”
The presentation is designed for men of all ages, as well as family members and caregivers who want to support the health of their loved ones. The event will include time for questions and discussion.
The program will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 12 p.m. at the Laredo Medical Center Community Center, Tower B, first floor.
