Pregnancy Pregnancy is an exciting time for parents-to-be. You want to know as much as you can about your developing baby and how your actions will affect his health. Use this information to help you make informed decisions from conception through delivery.

Your Newborn Baby Sleeping, eating, crying, cooing—your new arrival will keep you busy. You'll soon figure out his or her patterns and preferences.

Parental permission is required to view the photos of these bundles of joy, so be sure to ask the new parents about this service.

Your baby will be here before you know it. Start off on the right foot by enrolling in Tiny Toes Maternity Club offered exclusively by Laredo Medical Center (LMC). Tiny Toes was developed to help make your childbirth experience an even more treasured lifetime event. Club members receive amenities and an array of exclusive discounts from participating merchants.

Expectant mothers become registered members of the Tiny Toes Maternity Club after completing LMC’s free prenatal class prior to her delivery. After registration, mothers can begin to receive club member gifts, benefits, and discounts (See Below for Details).

NEW LABOR & DELIVERY

Just recently, LMC invested in both the Labor & Delivery Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to make sure both Mom and Baby are being cared for with the latest equipment available.

Included in the recent upgrades was a $125,000 purchase of 11 new birthing beds for Labor and Delivery.

NEW BIRTHING BEDS

The new Hill-Rom Affinity® 4 Birthing Bed is designed for the combination of safety and ease-of-use. The birthing beds include several features to provide comfort to women as they labor and deliver their baby, as well as include all the latest technological advances to keep mother and newborn baby safe during this highly sensitive time in their lives.

Some of the features include:

• STOW AND GO™ FOOT SECTION — With this revolutionary maternity bed feature, you are no longer required to lift and remove the foot section. It easily slides into a stored position during delivery and glides back into place afterwards.
• BATTERY BACKUP — With this exclusive feature, bed controls continue to function even when the birthing bed is unplugged, facilitating positioning and control during emergency transport.
• EASYGLIDE® CALF SUPPORTS — Permanently attached to the Affinity® 4 Birthing Bed to eliminate misplacing. New single lever lock allows the calf supports to quickly, easily and securely latch into place.
• ONESTEP® SIDERAILS — One handed operation to raise and lower the maternity bed’s siderails. The siderails automatically tuck under the birthing bed when lowered.
• ONESTEP® FOOT SUPPORT — Quick and intuitive to deploy with infinite positioning.

Along with the new beds, women in the Labor & Delivery Unit will enjoy:

• New flat screen TVs in each birthing room
• I-Pod Bose docking stations allowing Moms to listen to the music of their choice
• Recently renovated L&D waiting area giving patients and their families more privacy

PRENATAL CLASSES

Being a member of Laredo Medical Center’s Tiny Toes is easy. Upon completion of the Prenatal Classes or Birthing Tours--available in both English and Spanish--expectant mothers are offered membership into the program and eligible to receive exclusive amenities.

Classes are 1 to 1 ½ hours each and are usually held the third Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00pm of each month. The schedule is subject to change, but check the Community Calendar link on this website for this month’s schedule or call (956) 796-4505.
