OUTPATIENT REHABILITATION UNIT
The Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at Laredo Medical Center offers the area’s most comprehensive programs and services. Our Outpatient Rehabilitation Center provides exercise physiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy to patients of all ages. Patients may require a single service or multiple services.
“Our expert team is dedicated to promoting recovery and preventing re-injury so patients can achieve their goals and return to full recovery,” said Colin Herlihy. “We strongly believe in a therapist/patient team approach so that together we may achieve realistic goals and facilitate each patient’s return to the highest level of activity.”
INPATIENT REHABILITATION UNIT
Laredo Medical Center’s 12-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit helps individuals who have physical or cognitive deficits from disease or injury. Patients are referred to the Inpatient Rehab Unit as soon as they are stabilized from within LMC or from another medical facility.
“Our goal is to help each individual function as independently as possible utilizing the latest equipment and programs, including a unique transitional living program, to return patients to home and work,” said Dennis Lira, RN, Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation.
A TEAM APPROACH
A highly skilled team of professionals is dedicated to each patient's rehabilitation needs. Laredo Medical Center’s team approach includes rehabilitation experts from many disciplines, including: psychologists, rehabilitation nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, case managers and dietitians. This interdisciplinary team works together to develop the most appropriate treatment plan for each patient. But the most important team members are the patient, family, friends, caregivers and significant others.

- Speech-Language Pathologists examine, counsel, or provide rehabilitative services for persons who have, or are suspected of having speech, voice, language disorders, oral pharyngeal dysfunction or cognitive dysfunctions.
Patients may be referred to outpatient and inpatient programs by a doctor, insurance company, discharge planner/social worker, home health agency or family member. Self-referrals are also welcome.
