Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
Similar in concept to 3D conformal radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, or IMRT, uses varying intensity within individual radiation beams in order to achieve "organ sparing" treatment (minimizing the amount of radiation to normal tissues surrounding the area being treated). |

LMC recently announced that the Sanchez Cancer Center will be introducing a new service called Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy or IMRT. This technology enables doctors to deliver more therapy to affected areas and spare more healthy tissue.
In addition to this new IMRT service, LMC will compliment this technology with an image-guided ultrasound system called Restitu Platform. This Ultrasound system allows for image-guided adaptive therapies. The Restitu Platform greatly improves confidence in treatment accuracy and patient positioning thus providing patients with optimal radiation therapy planning and minimal side effects.
